Help students connect with American culture through this series of integrated reading and vocabulary texts! Book 2 introduces students to such accessible, empathic topics as friends, family, and education in the U.S., while preparing them for the challenges of academic reading through ample exercises; varied texts such as timed and point-of-view passages, charts, and graphs; and critical thinking tasks for pair, group, and class interaction. Book 3 builds on this introduction and moves into more controversial territory by addressing American versions of equality, multiculturalism, and freedom of religion. Both books present and recycle vocabulary in reading passages to encourage students to unleash themselves from the dictionary and learn to extract meaning from context.
